Campground Policies

Planning a stay at American Wilderness Campground near Cleveland, Ohio? Please review our campground policies before requesting a reservation. These guidelines explain reservation requirements, cancellations, arrival and departure times, and other important information for your stay.


Reservations, Deposits & Cancellations

  • At least a one-night nonrefundable deposit is required at the time of booking.
  • All reserved nights will be charged unless the reservation is canceled at least one week before the scheduled stay.
  • Holiday weekends and stays of seven days or longer require a two-night nonrefundable deposit.
  • RV and tent campsite reservations require at least one week’s cancellation notice.
  • Cabin reservations require at least two weeks’ cancellation notice.
  • Holiday reservations require at least two weeks’ cancellation notice.
  • No refunds are provided on monthly stays.
  • Seasonal and residential sites are nonrefundable after three days of booking.
  • Reservations are not transferable.

Check-In & Check-Out

Check-In: 3:00 PM
Check-Out: 2:00 PM

Early check-in or late checkout, when available, does not guarantee access to your campsite before the previous guest has departed. It allows guests to enjoy campground amenities earlier or later than the normal check-in and checkout times.

Site Sharing

Campers may share one campsite; however, each camping unit is charged the regular camping rate and provided a picnic table. Two family units arriving in one or more vehicles and sleeping in separate units—including tents, RVs, vans or trucks—are considered two camping units and are charged accordingly.

Weather & Refunds

No refunds or credits are provided for early departures or cancellations due to inclement weather. The fun continues rain or shine!

Cabin & Pet Restrictions

Pets are not permitted in cabins, buildings or on the beach.

Guests staying in rustic cabins must bring their own bedding.


Weddings & Receptions — Open Year-Round

The American Wilderness Event Center remains available year-round for weddings, receptions and special celebrations, even when the campground is closed for the camping season. Visits and consultations are by appointment only. Please call 440-926-3700 and leave a voicemail for a return call.
